OAFI and the Barça Players Association (ABJ: Agrupación Barça Jugadores) collaborate to improve the treatment of knee osteoarthritis in a non-pharmacological omega 3 study promoted by OAFI and Ferrer

Together with the International Osteoarthritis Foundation (OAFI), Football Club Barcelona (FCB) and Ferrer International laboratories, the Barça Players Association participates in a clinical study aiming to combat osteoarthritis and to contribute to the research, prevention and treatment of this disease. The football clubs Atlético de Bilbao and Atlético de Madrid also participate in this study.

In sports, joint overload has a very important impact on joints health. A professional football player has three times more risk of needing a prosthesis than the general population. It is for this reason, and for the benefit of former professional football players, that the Barça Players Association organized a meeting for all the members of the Association during which OAFI presented the study. The objective of this non-pharmacological clinical study is to validate the natural anti-inflammatory effectiveness of Omega 3 derivatives to relieve knee pain caused by osteoarthritis. Omega 3 derivatives have no harmful effects on the body and could therefore be taken regularly by patients with osteoarthritis. This study aims to improve the joint health of ex-professional sportspersons, as well as all persons who suffer from osteoarthritis. Participation in this study is free for all ABJ members.
