OAFI Radio’s programme “Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and adequate exercise” has been awarded first prize in the Gr\u00fcnenthal Foundation’s Journalism Awards, dedicated to chronic pain, in the audiovisual media category.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 12 December, the OAFI Foundation won first prize in the 13th Gr\u00fcnenthal Foundation Journalism Awards for audiovisual media, which aim to recognise the work of journalists and the media in raising awareness of pain and children’s pain. It is an initiative that also has the collaboration of the National Association of Health Informers (ANIS) and the Spanish Pain Society (SED).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The award-winning program, entitled “Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and appropriate exercise, broadcast on 12 May, featured Luisa Fernanda Panadero, president of AFIBROM and patient, and Dr. Antonio Collado Cruz, president of SEFIFAC. Both are organisations that focus on raising awareness and helping fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome patients, and they explained how to deal with the diagnosis of these pathologies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, Anabel Alcal\u00e1, former dancer, athlete and AFIBROM patient, also explained her case to help us not to lose motivation when faced with the diagnosis of a chronic illness. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

More than 276,000 people in Spain suffer from fibromyalgia and at OAFI we wanted to put the spotlight on a disease that is still unknown to this day, with the patients as the protagonists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our most sincere thanks to the Gr\u00fcnenthal Foundation for this award. It is an honour and a source of pride for the OAFI team to receive such recognition for our work. We will continue our work giving patients a voice and demanding the need to invest in research, reliable diagnostic protocols and giving them the visibility they deserve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
