ISACARE, the new European innovation project aimed at promoting the detection of signs of frailty in older adults through robotics and AI in the home setting
Group Saltó’s ISACARE project has been selected from among 170 proposals from across Europe to be part of the European ARISE program, which is co-financed by Next Generation EU funds.
The initiative will combine people-centered artificial intelligence, robotics, and home monitoring technologies to detect signs of frailty in older adults at an early stage.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with the International Osteoarthritis Foundation (OAFI), which will lead the validation of the solution in real-world settings, specifically in the home environment.

Group Saltó and the International Osteoarthritis Foundation (OAFI) are launching the ISACARE project, an innovation project selected to participate in the second open call for proposals of the European ARISE initiative, following a competitive process in which 170 proposals from various European countries were submitted.
The goal of ISACARE is to contribute to the development of an Industry 5.0 model, in which technology is put at the service of people to improve their well-being, quality of life, and independence. To achieve this, the project will combine artificial intelligence, social robotics, and advanced continuous home monitoring systems to help detect early signs of frailty in older adults.
The aging population represents one of the major global social and healthcare challenges of the coming years. Frailty places significant strain on the healthcare system, generating an estimated cost of 37,000 million euros annually in Europe in 2017, with a projected increase of 27% by 2030.
In this context, the early detection of changes in people’s physical or functional status can be key to preventing deterioration and facilitating timely interventions. ISACARE aims to address this need through a technological solution that enables continuous, personalized monitoring of various indicators related to users’ well-being.
Artificial intelligence and robotics in the service of personalized care.
ISACARE’s technological solution is based on the integration of the Temi social robot with home automation sensors and smart devices.
This technological ecosystem will enable the continuous monitoring of various parameters, such as vital signs, physical activity levels, and adherence to prescribed treatments. By analyzing this data, artificial intelligence algorithms will be able to identify patterns associated with potential risk situations and generate alerts that facilitate preventive action.
In addition to helping improve the quality of care, the solution aims to enhance older adults’ ability to maintain independent living for longer, enabling them to remain in their familiar surroundings safely and comfortably.
Pilot program in real-world environments in collaboration with OAFI.
The project is being carried out in collaboration with the International Osteoarthritis Foundation (OAFI), a leading international organization in the field of osteoarticular health and healthy aging.
OAFI’s involvement will be essential to ensuring that technological development remains fully people-centered. In this regard, the foundation will coordinate a pilot project in real-world settings to validate the solution, gather user feedback, and assess its potential impact on the management of frailty.
The results of the pilot will help define future lines of development and facilitate the adaptation of the technology to the real needs of social and healthcare professionals, caregivers, and users.
